5 Free Tips On How To Increase Blog Traffic In 36 Hours

how to increase blog traffic

Getting traffic to a blog (especially a new blog) is quite a difficult task, and you know this because somehow, your blog isn't half as trafficked as it should be.

I bet you've heard this crap phrase about traffic on the internet:

"Produce quality content and the traffic will flow"

The ironic good news is; I wish it were so.

There's a lot of great blogs with extreme quality, but what's their traffic stats? they probably don't garner 2,000 page views per month.

They're so may reasons why you're getting the traffic you deserve, but here's a quick list of 7 before I get down to business:
  1. No content – If your blog has no content at all, then there's no need to start shouting out loud to gain traffic. What do you people to read? what do you have to offer them even when they come? how can you get traffic anyway without a few well optimized valuable pages?.

  2. Using outdated tactics – Using outdated tactics like using Digg and other outperformed tools will keep your traffic in a standstill point.

  3. Pouring water in a basket – This doesn't mean actually pouring a bucket of water into a basket. If you're currently trying to get traffic with a technique or strategy, and it seems like it's not working a thing out, then it's time you stopped using that technique and find something that'll put up a better fight to getting more visitors. You get the idea.

  4. Bulk lowlife content – Don't put your strength into writing hundreds or thousands of low quality blog post just to attract eyeballs and gain more traffic. It won't work. And in the long run, your blog will be penalized for sure.

  5. Few backlinks – If you are just being a lazy link builder, it will cost you. Getting backlinks is usually no problem if you have a ton of visitors reading your blog. You need to first build links to earn them. As a startup, your focus should base on your link building and content marketing strategy.

  6. Poor site layout – A poor site layout may not seem like much to you, but it adds up to yielding a bad user experience which will make visitors feel unsafe and uncomfortable. Adding to that, Google hates poorly designed sites.

  7. Poor seo structure – As long as Internet marketing is concerned, a poorly optimized site will flop. And won't get any search exposure nor organic traffic from the search engines. What are your keywords? how are they fixed in your headlines? how compelling is your headline? does it seem natural? what's your content made of? these questions need answers, and only you can answer them when you know what to do and how to optimize your pages for the search engines.
Alright, it's time you took a walk through the main pro tips:

SEO is more traffic

The truth is: you're going nowhere without search engine optimization.

It's probably too obvious to you, but just with the right SEO factors and logics in place, i bet you'd look for articles on "how to reduce traffic" to your blog.

Honestly.

While search engine optimization is important and will earn you more exposure plus search engine traffic, you'll be paving your way to earning a manual penalty when it's over done.

So, it's best to moderately and naturally optimize your pages.

How exactly can that be done?

Here's a list I've put together to help you do just that:
  1. Avoid overusing your target keywords in both the content title and content body. At least, use a synonym and other related words in place of your main keywords. For example, if you want to rank for the term: "how to make money online", it's best to use substitutes like ways to earn on the internet, how to earn online, how to start earning online in the body of your content. Meanwhile, you'd want tweak some words like "make money" to "earn cash" in your title.

  2. Write better content, and never expect to get so much visitors to read a 300-word average fluff. Do better.

  3. Your URLs should never be defaulted to reflect your titles. If your title appears to be "5 ways to make money online", make the URL www.example.com/make-money-online. Your URL should be specific enough to expose the exact keywords you found in the keyword planner tool.

  4. Craft compelling headlines. This will increase the rate at which users click through from Google's results pages to your site.

  5. Use twitter to compose meta descriptions for your content, so as to limit the description length to 140 characters or below. Use multiple keyword phrases in your meta description area too. The description meta tag might not be as important as it once was, but it does a great job when it comes to evocking user curiosity and making them click through to your site from the results pages and also, the description of a blog post makes it easier to rank for multiple related keyword terms.

Have a solid content base

It's nearly impossible to drive a ton of visitors to a blog with little or no content at all.

Your blog needs to have a large quantity of unique content to rank well on the search engines, attract lots of visitors and become extremely popular.

And you can't do that with fewer than 10 blog posts.

Writing sucks, but all you need to do learn to write quality content real fast.

This doesn't mean you should start producing shorter irrelevant posts just to increase the numbers, this will result in total waste of time because shorter isn't always better, longer is.

This is where quantity comes in to play side-by-side with quality.

To get users to love your post, make it quality (relevant to they want), but to get more traffic and expand your readership base, produce quality content in large quantities.

Funnel the fuel, diversify your traffic

Are you already getting traffic from somewhere?

That's Cool.

The point here is for you to locate the source from where you get most of your traffic, then maximize it.

It's not always a good idea to seek out for new sources of traffic when you haven't fully exploited an already existing traffic source source.

You'll be able to garner more traffic when you manage to exploit varieties of traffic sources than when you depend solely on the search engines for traffic.

If you're just starting out, Google isn't always the best source of traffic for you until after 6 months or a couple of years.

The truth is: if your blog is new, it'll take time for it to earn Google trust and for Google to move it from the sandbox to the main index section. It takes a lot of work too.

Like me, you'll surely get most page views from social networks, and other sources besides Google.

Diversify your traffic sources, try everything but focus on what's working to get the traffic you deserve.

Guest blog effectively

Guest blogging is good and I know you can't argue that.

But do you know that just a guest post (just one) can result in traffic influx flowing to your blog? yes it can.

How possible? you may ask.

By landing a guest post on a high authority blog or a blog that is more trafficked than yours, you're directly tapping into their readership base and funneling most of those readers on the high trafficked and authority blog to yours.

Some of the readers will checkout your bio and click through to your blog, others will come through relevant links you've added within the content to your site.

Apart from getting direct traffic from the authority blog on which you guest posted, you're bound to also have increased organic search traffic, since you've been able to funnel page rank and authority from a quality blog to yours by guest posting.

Organise an email outreach

When writing a post, it's okay to mention a few industry names, I do it all the time.

And this can be a very challenging way to grow your audience rapidly.

This is more like telling a company or a high profile blogger in your niche that you've actually mentioned them in your article and asking them to return the favour by linking to your post or make mention of you in their posts.

This strategy won't work if you just come up with a snippet like this super-weird one used months ago:

"Hey, I just published an article and I mentioned your name in it, click here (URL)

for that kind of snippet, maybe they'll make mention of you finally, but they'll also add your email and say to their audience: "look what a weirdo sent me last week - (your snippet)".

Now, that's just bad.

Key takeaways

  1. You're unstoppable with the right SEO strategies and techniques in place. And you'll be able to rank for a broader set of keyword phrases too.

  2. Building a solid content base should be your aim: building a content-packed a blog (of at least 20 blog posts) before thinking to promote your blog and hype your traffic stats.

  3. Producing quality content isn't enough, you have to produce then in large quantities. The term "quality trumps quantity" shouldn't be your favourite quote at the moment.

  4. Reaching out to other high authority blogs is the easiest way you can always use to build relationships and earn more traffic in the long run.

  5. Guest blog more often, it works like a good luck charm.

Summing up

Considering the fact that 2 million blog posts are being published  daily.

If you follow the same process and strategies your competitors use to get more traffic, your content will get lost alongside a million blog posts getting ignored everyday.

So, in what other way can you drive traffic to your blog?
